Sparks Take Down Sharks in Nail-Biter
The Deer Valley Sparks squad opened their preseason with a gritty 8–6 win over the Sharks at the Dance in the Desert Tournament — and they did it with heart, hustle, and a fourth-quarter comeback.
Defense ruled early, with both teams trading stops. In the second quarter, #8 from the Sharks broke through with a key sack, setting the tone for a physical matchup.
The Sharks made the first big splash in the third. #1 punched the ball loose, scooped it up, and took it all the way for a 50-yard scoop-and-score. The extra point was no good, but the Sharks had the lead, 6–0.
Then came the Sparks' moment. In the fourth, #42 powered into the end zone to tie the game, and with everything on the line, stepped up again to knock through a two-point kick — giving Deer Valley the lead, 8–6.
The Sharks tried to mount a final drive, but #3 from the Sparks sealed it with a clutch interception, bringing the sideline — and the crowd — to their feet.
