Firebirds Punch Ticket to the Finals

The Scottsdale Firebirds and Canyon View Jaguars met on Saturday afternoon for a highly anticipated 13U matchup, bringing two competitive programs together with a spot in the next round on the line. From the opening kickoff, both teams came out with energy, but the Firebirds settled into a rhythm first, finding early momentum that allowed them to build a lead. Scottsdale’s offense moved efficiently in the opening half, while their defense created pressure that helped tilt field position in their favor.

Canyon View continued to battle through the early swings, working to adjust and find openings as the game progressed. Despite facing a growing deficit, the Jaguars stayed engaged, pushing through long drives and fighting for extra yardage on each possession. Their defense tightened as the half went on, forcing tougher looks and making Scottsdale work for every gain.

As the game moved into the second half, the pace evened out. Both teams exchanged stops, with each defense stepping up to close lanes and force longer drives. Canyon View found more consistency defensively, slowing down the tempo and putting together stronger stands. Offensively, they continued searching for opportunities, showing resilience and refusing to let the score dictate their effort.

Scottsdale, meanwhile, maintained control by staying steady in their approach. They protected their lead through disciplined play, taking advantage of key possessions while leaning on their defense to keep the Jaguars from mounting a comeback. Special teams also played a role in maintaining momentum, helping the Firebirds hold favorable field position throughout much of the second half.

By the final whistle, Scottsdale’s early surge and consistent execution proved to be the difference, securing a 38–12 victory. Canyon View continued to compete through all four quarters, showing determination even as time wound down. The matchup showcased high effort on both sides, strong defensive moments, and the kind of physical play expected from two well-coached 13U programs.
