Outlawz Hold Off Fourth-Quarter Wolfpack Push in 13U Scrimmage

The Outlawz and Wolfpack met for a 13U scrimmage on August 15, with the Outlawz building their advantage through the middle quarters before the Wolfpack mounted a late fourth-quarter push. The Outlawz ultimately came away with a 21-14 win after both teams found opportunities to make plays on offense and special teams.

After a scoreless opening quarter, the Outlawz began creating opportunities in the second. No. 10 initially found the end zone, but the touchdown was erased by a holding penalty. No. 0 followed with another touchdown that was also called back for holding, keeping the Wolfpack defense alive despite the Outlawz repeatedly threatening to score.

The Outlawz eventually broke through when No. 0 reached the end zone for a touchdown. The extra-point kick came up short, but the score gave the Outlawz their first points of the scrimmage and put them in front.

No. 0 struck again in the third quarter, breaking loose for a 60-yard touchdown run. On the extra-point attempt, No. 14 missed the ball. Holder No. 10 attempted to recover the play and send the ball toward the end zone, but there was no receiver there to complete the conversion.

The Outlawz defense also produced a key takeaway during the third quarter when No. 20 recovered a Wolfpack fumble. The Outlawz continued applying pressure and drove the ball all the way to the Wolfpack 2-yard line just before the quarter came to an end.

The action picked up even more in the fourth quarter. Outlawz No. 10 scored a touchdown, and No. 14 converted the extra-point kick to add to the Outlawz advantage.

The Wolfpack answered with its strongest offensive stretch of the scrimmage. No. 3 reached the end zone for the team's first touchdown, although No. 25 was unable to convert the extra-point kick.

Wolfpack No. 0 then helped push the offense back into scoring position with a 30-yard run that moved the team closer to the end zone. The Wolfpack capitalized when No. 6 scored another touchdown. This time, No. 25 connected on the extra-point kick to complete the scoring opportunity.

The Wolfpack kept the pressure on immediately after the score. On the ensuing kickoff, No. 16 recovered the ball for the Wolfpack, giving the offense another possession and an opportunity to continue its late push.

The scrimmage gave both teams plenty to work with as they prepare for the season. The Outlawz generated multiple scoring opportunities, overcame two touchdowns erased by penalties and created a turnover on defense. The Wolfpack, meanwhile, showed its ability to respond late, putting together two fourth-quarter touchdowns and recovering a kickoff to create one more opportunity.
