Regular Fall Season Game 9.20.25

AZ Champs Extend Undefeated Run

The AZ Champs kept their undefeated season alive with another dominant showing, rolling past the Scottsdale Firebirds 43–8 in 13U football action at Trevor Browne High School on Saturday, September 20.

The game opened with early drama when the Champs fumbled on their opening possession, but the defense quickly steadied the ship. Quarterback #0 answered on the next drive with the first touchdown of the night, and kicker #6 drilled the two-point kick to put the Champs on the board. Running back #2 followed with another score and once again #6converted. Before the first quarter closed, defensive lineman #17 broke through the Firebirds’ line and forced a safety, giving the Champs a commanding 17–0 lead.

Momentum stayed firmly with the Champs in the second quarter. Wideout #19 hauled in a touchdown, #6 kept his perfect streak alive with another kick, and defensive back #1 shut down a Firebirds drive with an interception deep in scoring territory. The Firebirds couldn’t find an answer, and the Champs took a 26–0 lead into halftime.

The third quarter all but sealed the game. Quarterback #0 found the end zone again, and #6 split the uprights for another kick. Then came one of the highlights of the afternoon: #6 executed a perfect onside kick and recovered it himself. Just moments later, #9 broke loose for a stunning 55-yard touchdown run, electrifying the Champs sideline and putting the game far out of reach.

In the final quarter, #9 struck again with his second touchdown of the game. The kick from #6 was tipped at the line and no good, the only blemish of the day for special teams. The Firebirds finally broke through late, as quarterback #15threw a strike downfield before running it the rest of the way to score their lone touchdown. Their kick was good, but it was far too late to catch the Champs, who rolled to a 43–8 win.

The victory pushed the Champs to 3–0 on the season, while the Firebirds fell to 1–2. Through three games, the Champs have outscored opponents 113–8, with the defense allowing just a single touchdown all year.

The Champs’ season so far has been nothing short of dominant. They opened September with a 35–0 win over the AZ Devilcats at Westview High School, followed by another 35–0 shutout on the road against the Maricopa Juggernauts. Their latest triumph against the Firebirds not only extended their winning streak but showcased their ability to score in multiple ways—offense, defense, and special teams all making plays.

For the Firebirds, the season began with promise in a 24–0 win over the AZ Lobos, but back-to-back losses, including this one, have slowed their momentum. With plenty of talent on the roster, they’ll look to regroup quickly as the season continues.

At Trevor Browne, though, it was all Champs. Big plays, relentless defense, and a perfect execution of fundamentals defined the afternoon, cementing their status as one of the early powerhouses of the fall season.
