Canes West Shut Out Angels Blue in 14–0 Blowout

May 24, 2025 | 16U Baseball

Canes West National 2027 16U didn’t just win — they took total control from the start, piling on runs every inning and shutting down Angels Blue 16U for a powerful 14–0 statement victory.

Conor Rae Sparks the Fire

Canes West leadoff hitter Conor Rae set the tone early with a walk, then stole second and came in to score on a double from teammate Colton Floyd. Later that inning, Evan Rodriguez brought in two more with a solid base hit to left, and Brandon Alley capped it with a triple to center field to give Canes a 4–0 lead after just one inning.

In the second, Rae showed off the wheels again — this time hammering an inside-the-park home run to drive in two more. Connor Long ripped a double, and Owen Gaida followed with a line-drive RBI single. By the end of the inning, it was 10–0 Canes.

Leroy Owns the Mound

Cooper Leroy (Canes West) was on fire from the bump. He threw a complete game shutout — 4.0 innings, no hits, no runs, 7 strikeouts — and was locked in from the first pitch. Angels Blue never found their rhythm at the plate as Leroy mixed pitches and filled up the zone.

More Heat from the Canes

In the third, Canes kept pressing. Cody Carmichael and Soren Etheridge both got on with singles, then Rae ripped a triple down the line for his third RBI of the day. Floyd stayed hot with another double, and Long hit a grounder that brought in another run after an error. The Canes led 14–0 and never looked back.

Rae (Canes West) finished 3-for-3 with 3 runs and 3 RBIs. Floyd went 2-for-3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs. Rodriguez and Gaida each drove in two. Every Canes hitter contributed to the 13-hit team effort.

Angels Blue Struggles at the Plate

Angels Blue 16U’s Logan Petrucci and Carson Seitzer each drew a walk, but that was nearly all the offense they could generate. They finished with zero hits, and only reached base on a few walks and one error.

Pitchers Alex Walsmann and #17 combined for 3.0 innings on the mound for Angels Blue, giving up 14 runs and 13 hits.

Full Team Effort

Canes West played with energy, focus, and full-team chemistry. From Rae’s leadoff spark to Leroy’s pitching command, it was all Canes from start to finish.
