Royals Scout Team Starts Hot, Shuts Out ITZ Vipers Elite
The Royals Scout Team came out swinging in their tournament opener, picking up a huge 12–0 win over ITZ Vipers Elite to kick off the 2025 PG WWBA West National Championship. The game ended in just four innings thanks to the run rule.
Right away, the Royals showed they meant business. They scored 3 runs in the 1st inning and then exploded for 8 more in the 2nd. Their bats were hot, their baserunning was aggressive, and their pitching was locked in from start to finish.
Cooper Shrum had a monster game, going 2-for-2 with 3 RBIs and two stolen bases. Nic Sabers crushed a double, drove in 2, and swiped three bags. Brody Crane chipped in with two base hits and an RBI, while William Bologna and Troy Fisher each got on base twice and scored two runs.
On the mound, Brayden Davidson was lights out. He threw 3 scoreless innings, gave up only 2 hits, and struck out 5. Ben Graves came in to close the game and didn’t let a single run score.
ITZ Vipers Elite had a few bright spots. Sebastian Lehr and Zachary Mermis each grabbed a hit, and Christian Trevino got on base twice and made a gutsy move trying to steal home in the 4th. On the pitching side, Quinn Plummer came in to help out of the bullpen and picked up a strikeout.
Both teams showed hustle and heart, but it was the Royals who took control early and never let go. They now sit at 1–0 in pool play, while the Vipers will look to bounce back next game.
