Vegas Strong Locks In Championship with Tough Win Over Jr Hawks
In a high-energy battle for the 9U title, Vegas Strong lived up to their name, holding off a determined Jr Hawks squad to secure a 14–0 shutout win and take home the championship at the Dance in the Desert Tournament.
Vegas got on the board early in the first quarter when #19 powered into the end zone, followed by a clean extra point pass from #33 to make it 7–0.
The Hawks weren’t about to back down. In the second quarter, #40 forced a big fumble and recovered it himself, giving the Hawks a burst of momentum and keeping the Vegas offense quiet heading into halftime.
But Vegas came roaring back in the third. #10 delivered the play of the game, breaking through three defenders for a massive 60-yard touchdown run that stunned the field. Then, #8 connected with #2 for the extra point to stretch the lead to 14–0.
Even down two scores, the Jr Hawks kept grinding. In the fourth, #7 caused a fumble and #43 jumped on it to give the Hawks one last chance. But a bit of bad luck followed — as the Hawks’ QB dropped back to throw, the ball deflected off his own receiver’s helmet and landed right in the hands of Vegas defender #13 for a momentum-sealing interception.
