Alhambra Shuts Out Trevor G. Browne 20-0 Behind Nickerson’s Offensive Leadership

Alhambra earned a 20-0 shutout victory over Trevor G. Browne on Tuesday night in a 6A Metro girls varsity flag football matchup at Alhambra High School.

The Lions established their offensive rhythm in the first half, with No. 3 Dayzah Nickerson leading the way. With 32.8 seconds remaining in the second quarter, Nickerson scored on a 14-yard touchdown run. Alhambra converted the two-point attempt to take an 8-0 lead into halftime.

Nickerson explained that Trevor G. Browne’s defensive approach helped create opportunities for the Lions. With the Bruins concentrating on tight coverage against Alhambra’s receivers, Nickerson found space to run. As the defense adjusted to contain her rushing ability, passing opportunities began to develop.

Alhambra carried its eight-point advantage through the third quarter before extending the lead in the fourth. With 7:06 remaining, the Lions completed a touchdown pass on a play beginning at their own 37-yard line. The two-point conversion was unsuccessful, increasing the lead to 14-0.

The Lions added another touchdown with 1:54 remaining when they connected on a pass from Trevor G. Browne’s 31-yard line. Another unsuccessful two-point attempt left Alhambra ahead 20-0.

Defensively, Alhambra held Trevor G. Browne scoreless throughout all four quarters to complete the shutout.

Following the victory, Nickerson emphasized the importance of trust and teamwork in Alhambra’s offensive success. She pointed to the team's early offensive execution as a moment that strengthened her confidence in her teammates and their ability to work together.

“The biggest thing I want the team to take away from tonight’s game is that when we work together and trust each other, more nights like this will come,” Nickerson said, adding that giving their best effort remains important regardless of the outcome.

For Trevor G. Browne, No. 1 Vianney, who contributes on both offense and defense, identified execution as the team’s biggest challenge against Alhambra. She also emphasized the need to work together and enjoy playing the game.

Despite the defeat, Vianney said the Bruins remain motivated by their love for football, their desire to improve, and the friendships they have developed as teammates.

Alhambra finished the night with three touchdowns and a shutout, using Nickerson’s first-half rushing score and two fourth-quarter touchdown passes to secure the 20-0 victory.
