Tri-Meet Showdown
The water was flying on Thursday afternoon as Barry Goldwater, Moon Valley, and Peoria went head-to-head in a spirited tri-meet at Peoria Pool. Across girls’ and boys’ events, every relay exchange and every stroke carried weight as the teams stacked points and fought for momentum.
Girls Meet
Peoria set the tone right away, storming to victory in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 2:40.00, while Barry Goldwater kept pace at 2:55.00. The Panthers doubled down in the 200 Free, finishing strong at 3:04.13, before Moon Valley answered in the 200 IM, taking the top spot at 3:39.00.
Barry Goldwater’s speed was on full display in the 50 Free, winning in 37.00, but Moon Valley struck back in the 100 Fly at 1:40.72. The Bulldogs came alive again in the 100 Free, sprinting to first in 1:16.07, while Peoria took control in the distance, grinding out a win in the 500 Free at 8:15.44.
The Panthers weren’t done, powering through the 4x50 Free Relay in 2:21.75, then capping it with a tight victory in the 100 Breaststroke at 1:30.28. Barry Goldwater answered in the 100 Back, clocking 1:40.44, and Moon Valley closed the night with a win in the 4x100 Free Relay at 6:36.78.
When the points were tallied, Peoria’s consistency carried the meet.
Final: Peoria 82 • Moon Valley 65 • Barry Goldwater 55.
Boys Meet
The boys’ races had no shortage of sparks. Barry Goldwater opened with a statement in the 200 Medley Relay, finishing in 2:11.00. Moon Valley came right back in the 200 Free, winning with a 2:59.00, but the Bulldogs answered in the 200 IM, touching first at 2:57.75.
The sprints electrified the deck as Moon Valley blazed through the 50 Free in 25.39 before adding the 100 Fly at 1:40.40. The Rockets kept their foot on the gas in the 100 Free, sprinting home at 1:00.06, while Peoria fought hard to stay in the mix.
Barry Goldwater flexed their depth in the middle-distance races, grabbing the 4x50 Free Relay in 2:08.62 and dominating the 100 Back at 1:26.28. The Bulldogs added another with a strong 100 Breaststroke win in 1:18.13, but Moon Valley had the final word, charging to victory in the 4x100 Free Relay at 5:42.90.
The back-and-forth battle ended with Barry Goldwater edging out Moon Valley by a narrow margin.
