Eagles Capture 2A State Championship Over Bobcats

The 2A State Championship game delivered a fun and competitive battle, but Scottsdale Christian came away with the trophy after defeating Benson 7–3.

For the first two innings, neither team could break through. Both defenses made plays, and the pitchers kept hitters from getting comfortable at the plate. Benson finally got on the scoreboard in the third inning with a run, but Scottsdale Christian answered in a huge way.

The Eagles exploded for five runs in the bottom of the third inning, flipping the game and taking control with a 5–1 lead. That big inning brought energy to the Scottsdale Christian dugout and gave the Eagles the separation they needed.

Scottsdale Christian was not finished. The Eagles added two more runs in the fourth inning to stretch the lead to 7–1. Benson kept fighting, scoring one run in the sixth and another in the seventh, but the comeback fell short.

Dylan Tims was outstanding on the mound for Scottsdale Christian. He pitched all seven innings, allowed three runs, and struck out eight batters. Whenever Benson tried to build momentum, Tims found a way to get a big out.

At the plate, Owen Kendrick led the Eagles with two hits and an RBI. Colton Stravitz helped spark the offense with a double and two RBIs, while Dylan Tims, Nate Danzeisen, Parker Spade, and Brock Jackson all contributed key hits during the championship win.

Benson finished with nine hits and showed plenty of fight throughout the game. Kellen Deskins and Kolttin Deskins each collected two hits, while Dawson Judd added two hits and an RBI. Rawley Evans and Byron Judd also drove in runs for the Bobcats.

Even though Benson outhit Scottsdale Christian 9–6, the Eagles took advantage of their chances with runners on base and played strong defense behind their pitcher. When the final out was recorded, Scottsdale Christian celebrated a memorable 7–3 victory and the 2A State Championship.
