Bowling Green gritted out a dramatic 61–60 win over New Mexico State, overcoming a cold shooting night with some serious clutch plays and sharp free-throw shooting down the stretch.
Marcus Johnson led the Falcons with 23 points, hitting big shots early and calmly sinking 7-of-7 at the line. Derrick Butler added 15 points, including two monster threes and a game-tying triple with just over three minutes to go. Javontae Campbell was relentless, getting to the line and converting 10-of-12 free throws to finish with 12 points and 8 boards.
New Mexico State made their own push behind Jaden Harris, who dropped 18 points and went a perfect 4-of-4 from deep in the second half. Robert Carpenter poured in 10 points and grabbed 7 rebounds, while Peter Filipovity chipped in 8 points and 9 boards.
The Aggies out-rebounded the Falcons 49–36 and hit 8 threes, but missed two crucial looks in the final seconds. Bowling Green survived, thanks to timely defense, 86.7% shooting from the line (26-of-30), and one final pair of clutch free throws by Campbell to seal the win with 12 seconds left.
