Skyhawks Maintain Control
The JV girls matchup between Deer Valley and Agua Fria settled into a defensive rhythm early, and Deer Valley held that edge throughout the night. Agua Fria kept competing and made the Skyhawks work for it, but Deer Valley maintained control for a 31–19 win.
The Skyhawks started patiently, valuing possessions and contesting everything on the defensive end. Points were hard to come by for both teams early, but Deer Valley found just enough offense to take an 8–4 lead after the first quarter.
In the second period, Deer Valley began to open things up. Ball movement improved and the Skyhawks converted a few extra opportunities around the basket, stretching the lead to 21–7 at halftime. Even so, Agua Fria’s effort never dropped, continuing to pressure the ball and challenge shots.
The third quarter remained competitive in terms of pace. Agua Fria looked more comfortable offensively and worked to generate consistent possessions, while Deer Valley answered with timely baskets and controlled rebounds, carrying a 27–12 lead into the fourth.
Agua Fria put together its strongest stretch late, pushing the tempo and creating scoring chances in the final quarter. The Skyhawks responded with composure, managing possessions and securing key rebounds to close out the 31–19 victory.
Both teams showed discipline defensively and steady improvement as the game progressed. Deer Valley’s consistency proved to be the difference, while Agua Fria’s persistence kept the contest active until the final minutes.


Skyhawks Shine Under Senior Night Spotlight
With Senior Night setting the atmosphere, Deer Valley played with energy from the opening tip and carried it throughout the evening. The Skyhawks honored their seniors with a strong performance, defeating Agua Fria 75–33 in the varsity girls matchup.
The early minutes reflected the emotion in the gym. Deer Valley came out aggressive on both ends, moving the ball well offensively while contesting nearly every shot defensively. By the end of the first quarter the Skyhawks held a 28–11 lead and had established the pace of the game.
In the second quarter Deer Valley continued to execute. Transition opportunities and consistent half-court offense extended the advantage to 39–16 at halftime, while Agua Fria continued battling and looking for ways to create offense against the pressure.
After the break, the Skyhawks delivered their most decisive stretch of the night. Defensive stops turned into quick scoring runs, and the lead grew to 63–27 entering the fourth quarter. The bench and crowd energy matched the moment as Deer Valley kept momentum on its side.
Agua Fria kept competing late, attacking the basket and playing through possessions, but Deer Valley managed the tempo in the final period and closed out the 75–33 victory.
The Senior Night setting added extra meaning to the performance, and the Skyhawks responded with one of their most complete efforts of the season. Agua Fria’s persistence kept the game active, while Deer Valley used defense, pace, and emotion to celebrate its seniors with a convincing win.
