Some games turn into something more, and this one refused to let go. Desert Edge Scorpions and Paradise Valley Trojans delivered a varsity showdown that felt destined for extra time, eventually stretching into double overtime before Paradise Valley emerged with a 58–55 win. Desert Edge controlled the early chapters, taking a 10–7 lead after the first quarter and carrying a 24–18 advantage into halftime by playing composed, physical basketball. The Scorpions continued to set the tempo in the third, pushing the lead to 38–26 and forcing Paradise Valley to chase the game.
Then the floor tilted. The fourth quarter turned into a surge of energy as Paradise Valley battled all the way back, tying the game at 44–44 and sending the crowd into overtime.
