Verrado Squeezes Out a Win!
The Verrado Vipers played a super close game against Cactus Shadows on April 23 — and they came out on top, winning 4 to 3!
It was a back-and-forth battle. Both teams scored 2 runs in the 2nd inning, but the Vipers pulled ahead in the 5th, adding 2 more runs that made the difference.
Hunter Chambers started on the mound for Verrado and didn’t let anyone get a hit in 2 innings. Then Ryder Raneycame in and finished the game, pitching 5 more innings and getting the win. He also struck out 4 batters.
At the plate, Chase Valdez had 2 hits, and Jeremy Logan smashed a double. Hunter Chambers and Ryder Raney each got a hit and an RBI, helping themselves out big time.
Cactus Shadows had some strong pitching too — Bret Keller struck out 6 Vipers in just 3 innings. C. McLaughlin hit a triple and scored a run, and Angelo Sismondo went 1 for 1 with an RBI.
Verrado’s defense played strong, only making 1 error, while Cactus Shadows had a few too many, with 3 total errorsthat helped Verrado score.
When it was all over, the Vipers held on and got the W. Great game, both teams!
