Eagles Hold Off Huskies in Postseason Game 1

The postseason has a way of turning every pitch into pressure, and O’Connor and Hamilton delivered exactly that in game one of their playoff matchup.

With the season stakes rising, O’Connor wasted no time creating separation. The Eagles pushed across two runs in the first inning, taking an early 2–0 lead and forcing Hamilton to play from behind the rest of the way. In a game controlled by pitching, defense, and missed chances, that opening inning proved to be the difference.

O’Connor finished with eight hits, led by Tommy Pascanu, who went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base. Mikey Gyde added two hits and scored a run, while Chase Waterbury drove in a run and reached base twice. Brent Sollars also crossed the plate for the Eagles, helping O’Connor build the early cushion that held through seven innings.

Hamilton kept swinging and stayed within striking distance. The Huskies finished with six hits and finally broke through in the sixth inning, cutting the lead to 2–1. Gavin Hamilton led the response, going 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Zach Burghardt added a double and Ben Ball scored Hamilton’s lone run. Even with the late push, O’Connor found enough outs in the biggest moments to keep the Huskies from tying it.

On the mound, M. Del Carlo gave O’Connor the playoff start it needed. He worked six innings, allowing one earned run on six hits while striking out six. G. Boncore-Montoya closed the door in the seventh, throwing a scoreless inning with one strikeout to secure the save.

Hamilton’s Tyler Nelson matched the stage with a strong outing of his own. Nelson went 6.1 innings, allowing just two earned runs on seven hits while striking out seven. Dean Thompson finished the final two-thirds of an inning without allowing a hit, keeping Hamilton alive until the final frame.

In a postseason game where every base runner felt dangerous, O’Connor’s early offense and late composure made the difference. The Eagles held on for a gritty 2–1 playoff win over Hamilton in game one.
