Knights Set the Tone Early Against Campo Verde
Higley grabbed control right out of the gate and never let Campo Verde fully flip the script, riding that fast start to a 62 - 55 varsity boys basketball win at home.
The Knights came out with sharp defensive pressure and efficient scoring in the opening quarter, building a commanding 22 - 8 lead. Higley moved the ball well, finished in transition, and kept Campo Verde from getting comfortable early.
The Coyotes found better rhythm in the second quarter and started generating offense in the half court, but Higley kept answering. By halftime, the Knights still held a strong 39 - 27 edge.
Campo Verde made things interesting in the third, pushing the pace and attacking harder to cut into the lead. The momentum shifted at times, but Higley stayed steady and carried a 51 - 43 advantage into the fourth.
In the final quarter, Campo Verde kept pressing and made the closing stretch competitive, but every time the Coyotes got within striking distance, the Knights came back with timely buckets and key defensive stops. Higley managed the game late and closed out the 62 - 55 win.
Higley’s balance showed up in the numbers. Marquice Pless led the way with 20 points and 11 rebounds, Isaiah Rider IV added 17 points and 7 rebounds, and Andre Tyler chipped in 10 points. Campo Verde never stopped pushing, but Higley’s first-quarter punch and steady execution were the difference.
