Huskies Break It Open Against Falcons
Horizon did not wait around for the game to settle in. The Huskies came out aggressive, kept adding pressure inning after inning, and turned the matchup into an offensive showcase.
Horizon opened with two runs in the first inning before Catalina Foothills answered with two of its own in the second. From there, the Huskies took control. Horizon scored four runs in the third, added two more in the fourth, tacked on two in the fifth, and then broke the game wide open with a seven-run sixth inning.
By the end, Horizon had piled up 17 runs on 16 hits, using production from all over the lineup to pull away. Jackson Weber led the charge with a perfect 3-for-3 day, driving in four runs and adding two doubles. Bennett Beyer also had a strong game, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Brayden Lee added two hits and three RBIs.
Hunter Walker drove in four runs for the Huskies, Ben Patton doubled, scored three times, and drove in a run, and Hudson Grainger added a hit, two runs scored, and a stolen base. Horizon also created problems on the bases, stealing seven bags as a team and keeping constant pressure on Catalina Foothills.
Catalina Foothills fought back late and put together a six-run sixth inning, but the early deficit was too much to overcome. Tanner Sultan doubled, scored a run, and drove in one, while Ethan McQuade brought in three runs. Ray Flores added two RBIs, and Jason Venegas went 2-for-2 as the Falcons worked to keep the game alive.
On the mound, Horizon used multiple arms to work through the matchup. Hunter Walker handled three innings, allowing two runs, only one earned, while Jack Bolton gave the Huskies two scoreless innings late. Ryan Tomey also struck out two in his inning of work.
Catalina Foothills found offense in the final frame, but Horizon had already built too much momentum. The Huskies used a deep lineup, aggressive baserunning, and a massive sixth inning to secure a 17–8 win over the Falcons.
