Eagles Rally Past Wildcats in Four-Quarter Battle

In a tightly contested varsity girls basketball matchup, the Ironwood Eagles battled through four competitive quarters to edge the Willow Canyon Wildcats 55–47 in a game that stayed within reach from start to finish.

Willow Canyon came out aggressive and kept the pressure on early, matching Ironwood basket for basket through the opening half. The Wildcats leaned heavily on J. Pope, who attacked all night and finished with 10 points while working through heavy defensive pressure. Willow Canyon stayed within striking distance with active defense, steady effort inside, and the kind of hustle that kept the game from ever slipping too far away.

R. Coty turned in one of the strongest performances of the night for the Wildcats, leading the team with 14 points and dominating the glass with 15 rebounds. Her presence inside helped Willow Canyon create second-chance looks and control key possessions. H. Bostick added 11 points and knocked down three shots from deep, giving the Wildcats a needed spark from the perimeter, while L. Tarkwon chipped in 8 points and L. Medrano added 4 more with strong energy on both ends.

Pope also filled the stat sheet beyond scoring, finishing with 5 assists and 4 steals as she continued to pressure Ironwood throughout the game. But in the second half, the Eagles found another gear. Ironwood slowly created separation with timely scoring and defensive stops, then closed strong in the final quarter to seal the 55–47 win.

Even in defeat, Willow Canyon showed plenty of fight with Coty controlling the boards, Bostick stretching the floor, and Pope leading the way with relentless effort and playmaking from start to finish.
