Verrado JV Rallies in the 4th

Verrado erupted for five runs in the top of the fourth inning and held on tight to edge Desert Edge 5–3 on Wednesday.

Desert Edge struck first with a run in the third, but it didn’t take long for Verrado to flip the script. Their offense exploded in the fourth frame with clutch hits and heads-up base running, highlighted by Maddox Taylor’s scorching 2-for-2 performance that included a 2-RBI double and a towering home run. Easton Santos also came through with a hit, an RBI, and a walk, maintaining a perfect 1.000 batting average through two plate appearances.

The Vipers had nine total hits on the day, with key contributions from Jackson Bailey, Jacob Torres, and Brady Trujillo, each collecting base knocks to help set the table. Davin Orton and Kyan Sims both went 1-for-1, keeping the bottom of the lineup dangerous.

On the mound, Verrado used a four-arm rotation to hold Desert Edge to just four hits. Brady Trujillo was lights-out in his 2.2 innings, allowing no runs and striking out three. Freshman Easton Santos picked up the win, throwing 3.1 innings and giving up just one earned run while fanning three.

Desert Edge showed some fight, putting up two runs in the fifth, but the Vipers defense stayed sharp. Verrado played error-free baseball, with perfect fielding from Marco Espinoza, C. Martinez, Jackson Bailey, and Kyan Sims anchoring the infield.

On the Desert Edge side, Dougie Turasky was a bright spot, going 2-for-3 at the plate and swiping a base. Victor Garciatossed 6.2 innings but took the loss, giving up five earned runs while striking out five.
