Maricopa Sweeps Mountain Pointe in Key 5A Metro Volleyball Matchup

Maricopa secured a 3-0 victory over Mountain Pointe on Thursday evening in a girls varsity volleyball matchup at Maricopa High School. The Rams won 25-23, 25-17 and 25-21 in a 5A Metro contest with significant implications for the region title race.

The opening set provided the closest finish of the match. Maricopa edged Mountain Pointe 25-23 to take a 1-0 lead, establishing momentum in front of its home crowd.

Maricopa strengthened its advantage in the second set, winning 25-17. The eight-point margin was the largest of the night and put the Rams one set away from completing the sweep.

Mountain Pointe remained competitive in the third set, but Maricopa closed out the match with a 25-21 victory to secure the straight-set win.

Following the match, Maricopa coach Tia explained the importance of the result in the region standings. She noted that Mountain Pointe entered with a previous loss to Maricopa, while the Rams had also suffered one region defeat.
