Eagles Rally Past Rattlers

Ironwood flipped the script late and stormed back to take down North Canyon 6–3 in a game that felt firmly in the Rattlers’ control early before slipping away in the final innings.

North Canyon came out sharp, putting pressure on Ironwood right away with two runs in the first inning. J. Chavez sparked the early momentum with a hit and a run scored, while B. Alexander drove in a pair to give the Rattlers a quick 2–0 edge. For a while, it looked like that early punch might be enough behind steady defense that turned multiple clean plays across the field.

Ironwood didn’t panic. The Eagles chipped away in the third, getting on the board to cut the deficit in half and settle into the game. From there, the tempo slowed into a pitching battle. M. Escalera Olivas gave Ironwood a huge lift on the mound, working five strong innings while limiting damage and keeping North Canyon’s bats quiet after the opening frame.

North Canyon added a key insurance run in the sixth when E. Nicloy, who finished with two hits including extra-base power, came through to extend the lead to 3–1. At that point, the Rattlers still held control, backed by solid fielding efforts from J. Chavez and M. Hougland, who helped keep things clean defensively.

Then the game turned.

Ironwood erupted late, starting with a two-run push in the seventh to tie it up. The momentum fully shifted in the eighth when the Eagles broke through again, plating three more runs to take their first lead of the game. A. Herrera led the charge with a big day at the plate, going 3-for-4, while R. Soto Diaz and B. Coleman each added multi-hit performances to keep the pressure on. J. McHugh also delivered in key moments, driving in two runs as Ironwood’s lineup came alive when it mattered most.

North Canyon couldn’t recover in the bottom half, as Ironwood’s bullpen closed the door. B. Coleman finished things off on the mound, securing the win and completing the comeback.

What started as a strong, controlled game for the Rattlers turned into a late-inning surge for the Eagles, who stayed patient, found their rhythm, and struck at the perfect time to walk away with the 6–3 victory.
