Rattlers Strike Early, Silence Cougars

The North Canyon Rattlers came out swinging and never let their foot off the gas, using explosive offense and sharp pitching to shut out the Raymond S. Kellis Cougars 11–0.

North Canyon wasted no time setting the tone in the first inning. After working their way on base, the Rattlers pushed across two early runs to grab momentum. The real fireworks came in the second inning when North Canyon’s lineup caught fire. Hitters strung together quality at-bats, forcing Kellis pitchers to work deep into counts before capitalizing with timely hits and aggressive baserunning to plate five runs and blow the game open.

One of the biggest moments came off the bat of E. Nicloy, who ripped a pair of doubles and finished a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate while scoring twice and driving in a run. J. Chavez was a constant spark at the top of the lineup, reaching base four times, scoring two runs, swiping a bag, and setting the table for the Rattlers offense throughout the game.

A. Miranda delivered one of the loudest swings of the afternoon with a clutch double that helped extend the lead, finishing with a run scored and an RBI. E. Villarreal also made his presence felt, collecting a hit, scoring twice, and knocking in a run as the Rattlers lineup kept pressure on the Cougars defense. M. Lopez and Y. Uerra each came through with RBI hits, while L. Sanders drove in a run as well to keep the rally rolling.

North Canyon added four more runs in the fourth inning, continuing to pile on as disciplined plate appearances and smart baserunning kept runners moving around the diamond.

While the offense stole the spotlight, the Rattlers pitching staff slammed the door on Kellis. B. Alexander was dominant on the mound, tossing four scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and striking out three. He mixed pitches well and kept Cougar hitters off balance throughout his outing. M. Hougland followed with a clean inning of relief, striking out one and preserving the shutout.

Kellis managed hits from D. Giddens and J. Celaya and saw N. Madrid reach base during the game, but the Cougars were unable to generate sustained offense against the Rattlers pitching and defense.

With explosive hitting, aggressive baserunning, and a locked-in pitching performance, North Canyon controlled the game from the opening inning and rolled to a convincing victory.
