Cobras Control the Course at Sun City North

The Cactus Cobras captured the team title in a three-school match against Barry Goldwater and Peoria, posting a 190 (+46) on the scorecard at Sun City North Golf Course.

The North Course, a classic desert layout stretching just over 3,100 yards for this nine-hole match, demands accuracy more than length. With narrow fairways, firm greens, and a mix of short par-4s and long par-5s, it challenged players to manage their games and stay disciplined.

Senior T. Baker (45, +9) navigated the course best, carding the lowest round of the day to earn medalist honors. Backing him up were C. Mell (46, +10) and T. Bambulas (46, +10), who both posted steady scores to keep the Cobras in front. T. V. Linden (53, +17) rounded out the counting scores to seal the team win.

Barry Goldwater finished with a 212 (+68). Sophomore C. Wilson (47, +11) led the Bulldogs with a controlled round, while P. Sammon (48, +12) and E. Henson (50, +14) stayed competitive to keep the team in the mix.

Peoria did not have the four players required to post an official team score, but their golfers still showed well on the individual leaderboard. G. Kramer (53, +17) recorded the Panthers’ best round, while I. Ilamas (59, +23) and J. Madoyi (59, +23) battled through the layout to close out the day.

With consistency up and down the lineup, the Cobras kept the ball in play and managed the course conditions better than their opponents. Baker’s medalist round and the team’s depth across the card ensured Cactus left Sun City North with the team championship.
