Perry Holds Off Hamilton for 43-36 JV Victory
Perry held off Hamilton for a 43-36 victory Thursday night in a boys JV football matchup at Perry High School.
Neither team found the end zone in the opening quarter, sending the game into the second tied 0-0.
Perry broke through in the second quarter when No. 6 scored the game's first touchdown. No. 6 followed with a successful two-point conversion to give the Pumas an 8-0 advantage.
Hamilton answered with a touchdown from No. 9, followed by a successful extra point from No. 28.
Perry added another touchdown in the quarter when No. 17 reached the end zone. No. 5 converted the extra point, sending Perry into halftime with a 15-7 advantage.
The scoring accelerated in the third quarter.
Perry No. 3 scored a touchdown, with No. 5 adding the extra point. Hamilton responded with a touchdown from No. 15 and a successful extra point from No. 28.
Hamilton No. 5 then found the end zone for another touchdown, and No. 5 converted the two-point attempt to pull Hamilton even with Perry.
Perry regained the advantage when No. 23 scored a third-quarter touchdown. No. 5 added the extra point, giving the Pumas a 29-22 lead entering the fourth quarter.
Both teams added 14 points in the final period as Hamilton continued to keep the game within reach.
Perry No. 7 scored the touchdown that ultimately put the Pumas ahead 43-36.
Hamilton had an opportunity to respond, but Perry No. 22 intercepted a pass from Hamilton quarterback No. 15 to seal the 43-36 victory.
Perry finished the night with a seven-point win after the teams combined for 79 points.
