Pusch Ridge Builds Early Lead in 48-6 Win Over San Tan Foothills

Pusch Ridge Christian Academy established control early and carried a commanding first-half advantage into the break on the way to a 48-6 victory over San Tan Foothills.

The Lions wasted little time getting on the scoreboard. No. 10 Cam Shoaff opened the scoring with a rushing touchdown before No. 8 Kamden Cummins converted the extra point.

Pusch Ridge continued its fast start through the air as quarterback No. 3 Race Pinneo connected with No. 9 Levi Adcock for a 10-yard touchdown. Cummins added another successful point after to extend the advantage.

San Tan Foothills created a defensive opportunity during the opening quarter when No. 4 recorded an interception, but Pusch Ridge continued finding ways to generate points. Another Lions touchdown, credited to No. 1 in the game notes, followed later in the quarter, and another successful extra point gave Pusch Ridge a 21-0 lead after one.

The Lions kept the pressure on immediately in the second quarter. Shoaff scored again, this time on an 8-yard rushing touchdown, and Cummins converted the PAT to make it 28-0.

Pusch Ridge's defense also continued creating difficult situations for the Sabercats. No. 51 recorded a tackle for loss that pushed San Tan Foothills backward before the Sabercats eventually punted.

After taking over, Pusch Ridge quickly moved into scoring position. Shoaff broke a long run that advanced the Lions to the San Tan Foothills 34-yard line. No. 5 MJ Buckner then connected with Adcock on a long pass that moved the ball to the 14.

Buckner finished the drive himself with a 14-yard rushing touchdown, pushing the lead to 34-0. The following extra-point attempt was unsuccessful.

San Tan Foothills answered with its biggest offensive play of the night when No. 8 broke free for a 94-yard rushing touchdown, putting the Sabercats on the scoreboard. The extra-point attempt missed, leaving the score at 34-6.

Pusch Ridge responded almost immediately. After the ensuing kickoff gave the Lions possession near the goal line, Buckner scored again on a 1-yard rushing touchdown. Cummins converted the PAT, sending Pusch Ridge into halftime with a 41-6 lead.

The scoring slowed after the break. San Tan Foothills opened the third quarter with runs from No. 8 and No. 4 Colton Bogard, but the Sabercats eventually punted.

Pusch Ridge took advantage of the possession. No. 35 Levi Fontagneres broke a long run that moved the Lions to the San Tan Foothills 24-yard line. Pinneo followed with another run to the 18 before Fontagneres finished the drive with an 18-yard rushing touchdown.

Cummins added the extra point, extending the Lions' advantage to 48-6 entering the final quarter.

San Tan Foothills continued working on the ground in the fourth, with No. 8 producing several runs that helped move the Sabercats from their own territory to the Pusch Ridge 28-yard line.

The Lions' defense ended the threat before San Tan could add another score. No. 22 Braydan Nolan intercepted a San Tan Foothills pass and gave possession back to Pusch Ridge at its own 7-yard line.

Pusch Ridge then turned to its ground game to work its way out of its own territory. No. 14 Caden Galloway produced a pair of long runs, while No. 7 Marshall Williamson added another as the Lions advanced into San Tan Foothills territory and worked the remaining time off the clock.

Pusch Ridge finished the night with contributions throughout its lineup. Shoaff scored twice on the ground, Buckner added two rushing touchdowns, Fontagneres found the end zone in the third quarter, and Pinneo and Adcock connected through the air. Cummins consistently handled the Lions' extra-point duties, while Nolan delivered a fourth-quarter interception on defense.

The Lions scored 21 points in the opening quarter and another 20 in the second, building a 41-6 halftime advantage before adding seven more in the third and closing out the 48-6 victory.
