Eagles Hold Off Late Push From Pumas
Sandra Day O’Connor built its edge early and never let Perry fully flip the script, grinding out a 45–40 varsity girls basketball win. The Eagles controlled the tempo in the opening half, jumping out 11–6 after the first quarter before stacking another strong frame to carry a 27–17 lead into halftime.
Perry found life in the third quarter and made things interesting with a 16-point burst. Trinity Jones led the Pumas with 12 points, while Alexis Fenn added 8. N. McQuiston chipped in 6 points and helped keep Perry aggressive with 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Bella Burcar added 7 points and 6 rebounds, and Elleigh Molinar knocked down a three while adding a block and a steal.
But every time Perry started to close the gap, O’Connor answered with composure. The Eagles slowed the pace, valued key possessions, and held the Pumas to just seven points in the fourth quarter. In the end, O’Connor’s sharp first half gave it just enough cushion to survive the late charge and lock down the five-point win.
