Trojans Complete Comeback to Capture 3A Championship

The 3A championship game came down to the final inning, and Valley Christian found a way to finish the job with a 6–5 win over Yuma Catholic.

Yuma Catholic opened the game with confidence, scoring three runs in the first inning and immediately putting pressure on Valley Christian. The Shamrocks came out aggressive at the plate and forced the Trojans to play from behind early.

Valley Christian stayed composed and slowly worked its way back into the game. After two scoreless innings, the Trojans broke through in the third with three runs to tie the game. One inning later, they added three more, turning an early deficit into a 6–3 lead.

That lead would end up being just enough. Brock Jackson helped lead Valley Christian’s offense, finishing 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Will Waggoner, Nate Danzeisen, and Parker Spade each drove in runs, while Valley Christian also used its speed on the bases to keep pressure on Yuma Catholic’s defense.

Yuma Catholic did not go away quietly. Hiram Silva had a strong game at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI. Jose Alatorre added a double and two RBIs, while Daniel Ruiz also doubled and scored a run. The Shamrocks finished with eight hits and kept fighting until the final out.

On the mound, C. Bergloff gave Valley Christian the steady performance it needed, throwing 6⅓ innings and striking out five. Hiram Silva pitched all six innings for Yuma Catholic, allowing only three earned runs while striking out four.

The final inning brought the pressure back. Yuma Catholic scored two runs in the seventh, cutting the lead to one and making every pitch feel important. But Valley Christian stayed calm in the biggest moment and closed the game out.

With the 6–5 win, Valley Christian completed the comeback and secured the 3A championship. It was a game filled with momentum swings, big plays, and the kind of pressure that makes championship baseball special.
